Latin Mass 3rd Sundays, Brundage
Every third Sunday of each month at 11:45 a.m. at Brundage, the Mass will be all in Latin, except for the readings, psalm response, homily, and prayers of the faithful.
The Latin Mass of Vatican II is in no way a step backward, but simply putting into practice what the Church has always recommended: that Latin be kept, even as the vernacular languages are introduced. Celebrating in Latin helps maintain a sense of universality that unites us with the mother Church of Rome and with Catholics throughout the world and over the centuries. The richness of this tradition and the beauty of the Latin chants may help us see beyond the more superficial aspects of the liturgy, and enter with greater reverence into the mystery of Christ’s death and resurrection made present to us in the Eucharist. Our deepest participation is not simply the words and actions we perform, but rather the interior movement of heart and soul united to the paschal mystery of Christ and entering into communion with Him.
